I told my friend that the gargoil is going to keep the evil hurricane spirits away from my house and we all laughed. Well, he ended up with 3" of water in his house and 2 of my neighbors lost their roofs along with others having walls blown down and major water damage from sideways rain for 24 hours. That statue is cast iron and weighs about 200 lbs. After the storm (Frances) lightened up on us I couldn't beleive I had no damage other than the plants. I went over and patted him on the head and said thanks. I live 2 blocks off the beach and all those pictures you've seen on the news of beachfront buildings damaged are true. Every house and condo/hotel on the beach has MAJOR damage. Most aren't livable.
I'm leaving my front windows covered for another week until Jeanne decides where it's going. I pulled down all my smaller wndows plywood but I can have them back up in an hour.
